Bail Cancelled: Major Twist in L.K. Advani Assassination Attempt Case

Madurai:
In a major development in the assassination attempt case against senior BJP leader L.K. Advani, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has cancelled the bail granted to Mohammed Hanifa, one of the accused in the case.

The High Court set aside the earlier order of the Dindigul District Court, which had released Hanifa on bail, and directed that Mohammed Hanifa must appear before the court in person.

The case dates back to 1998, when an alleged attempt was made to assassinate L.K. Advani during his election campaign near Madurai. Following the incident, several people, including Mohammed Hanifa, were arrested in connection with the attack.

After years of legal proceedings, the Dindigul Court had previously granted bail to Hanifa. However, the Madurai High Court Bench has now quashed that order, ruling that the lower court’s decision was invalid.

Following the latest directive, fresh trial proceedings are expected to resume, and Hanifa is required to be present before the court for further hearings.

This verdict has once again brought the 25-year-old L.K. Advani assassination attempt case back into the spotlight.
